According to International Telecommunications Union estimates, at the end of 2015, 3.2 billion people had used the internet within the previous three months, about 43 percent of the world’s total population. That is higher than the 2.9 billion people who did so in 2014.
Significantly, most people now connect to the internet using mobile devices The GSMA estimates there were 3.2 billion unique mobile internet subscribers in 2015.
So think about that: there were in 2015 3.2 billion unique mobile Internet users. Globally, there were also 3.2 billion people who used the Internet.
So, virtually, every person using the Internet did so, at least part of the time, from a mobile device. That does not necessarily mean mobile access was the sole method, simply that virtually every human being used mobile for Internet access, even if they also use fixed connections, PCs, tablets or other devices to do so.
