“Bite-sized” service plans are one way to encourage people to use mobile Internet services, as price certainty is built in to the purchase process, whether services are sold by the minute, by the hour or day.
Smart Communications, the Philippines mobile provider, uses a PowerApp, built on Sandvine’s “SmartService App,” to support customer purchasing of prepaid mobile Internet service that supports specific applications or categories of apps (such as social networking or music streaming).
The SmartService App allows mobile users to make purchases directly from the smartphone, using text messaging or a web browser-based storefront.
