Google’s plan to launch a mobile service in the United States looks more like a demonstration project like Nexus devices than a full national rollout.
“We don’t intend to be a carrier at scale,” said Sundar Pichai, Google SVP. And Google might seek mobile virtual network operator agreements with all four national U.S. mobile providers.
So it now appears Google is more interested in a limited program that will illustrate and demonstrate the value of integrated device, operating system and app integration and experience elements, much as it developed Nexus phones and tablets, not so much to lead the device market, but to illustrate how Android could be integrated and showcased on a device.
