Singapore’s Infocomm Development Authority plans to auction additional mobile spectrum in 2016 to create a fourth mobile supplier in Singapore, reserving about 60 MHz of capacity for at least one new entrant.
The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) plans to make available a total of 235 MHz of spectrum.
The “new entrant” auction will be held first, where only interested pre-qualified parties who do not currently operate a nationwide mobile network in Singapore will be eligible to participate.
IDA is making available 60 MHz of spectrum from the 900 MHz and 2.3 GHz bands for that new entrant auction.
The second stage will be open to the incumbent MNOs – M1, Singtel Mobile and StarHub Mobile, as well as to any new operator emerging from the new entrant auction.
