Vietnam will launch a program to connect at least 40 percent of households to fixed high speed access by 2020. By that date, the plan calls for providing at least 60 percent of Internet subscribers minimum speeds downlink of 25 Mbps, according to Vietnam News.
On the mobile front, the plan calls for covering 95 percent of residential areas by 3G or 4G networks with an average downlink speed of over 4 Mbps in urban areas and 2Mbps in rural areas.
The plan also strengthens public Internet access points so that at least 50 percent of those access points support minimum speed downlinks of 50 Mbps.
